Don't forget: Veterans Job Fair Friday to feature 90 employers

MUSKEGON, MI - A total of 90 employers are looking to meet potential employees at a Friday, May 16 job fair targeted at veterans on board the USS LST-393 Veterans Museum ship.

The Veterans Job Fair will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 16 aboard the retired tank carrier docked at 560 Mart St. in Muskegon. An Armed Forces Day celebration will be held at the LST the next day, Saturday, May 17.

Veterans Job Fair committee member Holly Hughes said there will be 90 employers at the event. About 80 participated in the job fair last year.

"Not only do we have many employers who have participated in our past two job fairs, like Alcoa Howmet, but we also have employers that we haven't had before, including Amway and Meijer," Hughes said.

Companies are looking for engineers, CPAs, administrators, drivers, corrections officers, factory jobs and bankers.

The event is open to members of the general public as well as veterans.

Job seekers will have a chance to prepare for the job fair at a workshop the day before. An event with resume and interview assessments, and a presentation will be held starting at 9 a.m. at the Goodwill Workforce office, 950 W. Norton Ave., Suite C. The event is free and open to the public.

The Armed Forces Day celebration, which runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, will feature music, medal presentation and vintage aircraft flyover. Lt. Col Ronald M. Janowski will speak.
